About Second City Scooters

Second City Scooters is a family owned business with a passion for delivering on what we think scooters are all about: FUN! For us, fun on a scooter translates into a high quality product at a low cost with no hidden fees for shipping and handling. Fun means being able to get your scooter fixed at a reasonable rate in a reasonable amount of time. We approach our business as if your scooter was our scooter. And we take it from there. With over 40 years of experience in the corporate world, we know about things like supply chain efficiency, customer satisfaction, and six sigma quality. And now we get to apply that experience to something fun....SCOOTERS! So, if your in the market for a scoot or need a tune up or repair, stop by and experience what scooter fun is all about at Second City Scooters.

Our Staff

The recognition that Second City Scooters receives as Chicago's friendliest scooter shop wouldn't be possible without our great staff.

Abe

Abe is our chief mechanic in the shop and loves the diversity of people he meets on the job. He has 15 years of experience rebuilding Vintage Vespas and repairing many different kinds of scoots. If your scoot has an issue or just needs a tune up, Abe's the man! Outside of fixing scoots, Abe enjoys music, art, and time with family.

Vince

Vince runs the day to day operations in the store and knows everything you ever wanted to know about scooters. When Vince isn't in the shop working, he is on the road touring with his band playing the drums. He also enjoys the pursuit of fitness and the study of Cultural Anthropology.

Juan

Juan has been with Second City Scooters since 2008. Juan splits his time between being a scooter mechanic at the shop and being a PhD student and instructor in Sociology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. When asked why he likes to work on scooters, Juan says: "They don't talk back, and, unlike a dissertation, you can usually finish working on them in less than five years." When not working on a scoot (or a dissertation), Juan likes to grill, drink good beer, read up on American history, and ride his 2008 Lance Vintage to Super Dawg.

I met with Juan who gave me some great advice on buying scooters, what to look out for and also showed me the inventory they had still available. He was very friendly, knew exactly what he was talking about and helped me a lot. —Peter W.

Pete

Pete is our go-to guy….go to the store, go get us lunch, go fill up the gas can. When he is not running errands and cleaning up after us, Pete is working on carbs, tires, and wires. He'll do a tune-up and change your oil with the best of 'em. And, to top it off, his batting average in his softball league is .980! Oh yeah, and he wants to buy a Cali Classic when he get permission from his folks.
