So where did the idea of Second City Scooters come from?
Around 2007, two brothers took a vacation to Italy. While stuffing their faces with gelato and pasta they ran across a scooter shop. Hopped up on sugar and fettuccini they decided to join the locals on a couple of scooters. They had a blast zooming through the streets of Rome and fell in love with their scooters (we call this scooter love).
Shortly after getting back from their vacation they decided to go to the scooter dealers in Chicago and get their very own scooters. They were SHOCKED over the price tags! Dealers were asking $3,000 for the slower 50cc scooters everywhere! As great entrepreneurs will do, the brothers devised a unique supply chain that delivers high quality scooters at low cost. Sort of like Walmart…only not so big. They found a friendly storefront on Chicago Ave., and began selling a TON of high quality scooters at a fraction of the cost of their competitors.
Today we are a family owned business with a passion for delivering on what we think scooters are all about: FUN! For us, fun on a scooter translates into a high quality product at a low cost with no hidden fees for shipping and handling. Fun means being able to get your scooter fixed at a reasonable rate in a reasonable amount of time, like on the spot if possible. We don’t want to waste the precious Chicago summer with a scooter in the shop. So we approach our business as if your scooter was our scooter. And we take it from there. We have over 40 years of experience in the corporate world, so we know about things like supply chain efficiency, customer satisfaction, and six sigma quality.
