Is there a “scooter doctor” in the house?
Absolutely. Second City Scooters has an in house mechanic that will service all your scooter needs including repairs, routine maintenance and scooter tune-ups. The best part is that all scooter service happens in the store. There are no hassles with bringing your scooter to a stranger or hunting down parts. Now that’s scooter love!
Repair
So your scooter is acting up and interfering with what you LOVE to do, namely, riding your beloved scooter. No worries. Bring the troublemaker directly to our shop and the scooter doctor will properly diagnose the problem and most importantly, FIX IT. Second City Scooters has a close relationship with the Lance dealership making it easy to get just the right parts for your scooter repair.
Maintenance
Like anything else, if you take care of your scooter, it will take care of you ensuring an on-going relationship of SCOOTER LOVE. Here is what we recommend.
Rev Me Up
Just as you are fantasizing about the warm summer breezes caressing your exposed summer skin, your scooter has some fantasies of its own (you know, things like oil, spark plugs, and the soothing hands of strong mechanic). Make sure you and your scooter both realize your dreams and come in for that spring tune-up.
We will get you off to a fabulous start by inspecting the:
- Throttle,
- Carburetor
- Brakes
- Battery
- Suspension
- Nuts and bolts
- Wheels and tires
- Steering
We will also change the oil, clean the air filter and change the spark plug.
Check Your Vital Signs
After you have logged 600 miles or more on your new hip scooter, it’s time to come in for a check up. We will provide the same service outlined under our spring tune-up.
Wind Me Down
Give your scooter the attention it deserves before you say goodbye for the season. Just as any relationship requires a little TLC, your scooter wants to know you care. Leaving it out in the cold all winter exposed to the elements will only guarantee a rocky beginning when the two of you meet again. So do the right thing and sign your scooter up for a “winter spa experience” at Second City Scooters. This experience includes a combination of winterizing your scooter and keeping it warm and dry as the Chicago winter bears down. Do you feel the LOVE yet? Your scooter will feel the love because we offer the following:
Winter Scooter Storage
Scooter storage is $60.00 a month. We store our scooters "on site" at our beautiful 5578 North Lincoln Avenue location. Your scooter will be kept warm, clean, dry, and most important SAFE. Second City Scooter facility is insured and has a reliable security system.
Winterization
Winterization is a one timecharge of $70.00. Winterization includes the following services:
- cleaning the scooter
- adding a fuel stabilizer to the gas
- hooking up a battery tender to the battery
- checking the tire pressure
- starting it once a month
Need another reason? If you store your scooter 5 months or more we will winterize your scooter for only $50.00!
Repair / Maintenenace/Upgrades
In addition to storage and winterization, winter is the perfect time to do your scooter repair, maintenance and upgrades. Repair, maintenance and upgrades can be done while your scooter is in storage or by drop off and pick up appointment.
During the winter season we can perform basic repair and maintenance services such as;
- doing a tune up
- installing new brakes
- replacing belts and rollers and
- replacing cracked, scratched or faded panels.
The winter season is also the perfect time to do scooter upgrades such as;
- installing a performance carburetor for more reliability, better acceleration and top speed and
- installing a performance muffler for better airflow, acceleration and top speed.
